Electronic Publishing Post 2.25.19

I absolutely love the idea of having a website that other authors of online-published prose and poetry can submit to for a competition. Online publications are booming right now, and I feel like it would be that much more of an honor to win something that competitive than a competition for printed publications, which is just my opinion.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love printed publications. I currently have an internship with a printed-publications press, and there is definitely something to be said for a journal that you can feel with your hands instead of just staring at on a screen. It’s nice to have the physical object in your hand as a prized possession.

Online publications are a bit more competitive, however, given how much easier they are to access and read compared to a printed publication. More people are likely to see an online publication than a physical one. Your name and brand spreads faster across the internet than it does by word of mouth these days. So, these authors in the “2017 Best of the Net” should be very proud of their accomplishment.

I know that I would be absolutely over the moon.

Anyways, make sure to check out some of these stories and poems! They’re great reads!
