Denver, CO: Day 2

Hey guys! I’m on Day 3 here, but this is from yesterday. It’s going to be mostly picture-heavy, since not much happened until the very end of the day.

I had a pretty great time on Day 2, even though a lot of it was simply me recovering from my first day. I spent the first half of the day in my apartment, relaxing. I wrote that first blog entry, watched more Netflix, and read.

However, towards mid-afternoon, I decided to head to Target to get some things. I brought Alexa with me, and we tested out the rental car, which is soooooo much nicer than my actual car. The bluetooth in the car can connect to TWO phones (mine only connects to one), it has it’s own GPS system and a rear camera. The gas pedal and breaks aren’t as sensitive, which makes the ride smoother. It’s all around a better car than my Jetta, and even though it was expensive and a hassle, I’m going to be sad when I have to give it back.

Anyways, we headed to Target and I grabbed a bunch of things, like candles, a new trash can, food, paper plates, cups, an extra pillow, etc.

Then Alexa and I came across a billboard advertisement for “Mystic Mermaids,” at an aquarium. We looked it up and discovered that they were open until 9:30pm, so we decided to head over. It was the Downtown Aquarium, but of course, the “mermaid show” ended at 6:00pm, which we had just missed.

However, there were plenty of other sea creatures to see:

Overall, some of the more interesting sea creatures we saw were catfish, sharks, stingrays (majestic sea flap-flaps), jellyfish, pikes, minnows, piranhas, seahorses, turtles, sunfish, bass, lobsters, and eels.

However, we also saw a female tiger taking a nap and poisonous frogs:

The last aquarium I went to was the National Aquarium in Baltimore, which is HUGE. However, this was your standard aquarium, but it was also well designed for the kids. The walk-through was straight-forward and this was also the first aquarium I’ve ever seen with a tiger, so that was interesting.

There was also an option to go swimming with the sharks and for people to touch the stingrays. (I touched one of the bigger ones with a rougher back. The baby sea flap-flaps have much smoother backs.)

However, the only frustrating thing about the aquarium was that it was extremely easy for people to stick their hands in the water with the fish. There was even an open top for the piranha tank, which wasn’t the best. The piranhas were also extremely still, like they were just dying for someone to just stick their finger in the water so they can all attack at once.

But we still had a good time.

Afterwards, we drove back home and went to bed, because we were still exhausted from the day before.

That’s it for Day 2, stay tuned!
