Denver, CO: Day 10 (Because I really miss going outside)

Hey guys!

So, for those who follow me, the main reason why I’ve been gone for so long is because I’ve been working on a project for several months now that will be released on this blog soon. It’s for graduate school, but it’s also going to be for sale (not too expensive, for those who are out of work). I’m very excited to share it with everyone, and it will be available for people to purchase soon if you’re interested.

But for now, I’m currently on Day 15 of self-isolation. I’ve been stuck in my house since March 13th, and don’t worry, of course I’ve been documenting this whole experience as well (I say like anyone was ever worried about it to begin with).

I plan on sharing it waaaaay after all the pandemic ends, because I’m sure everyone’s experience has been close to the same lately (for those who have stayed healthy up until this point), and I feel like everyone needs a break from it (including me).

And now that I finally have a small break from this project I’ve been working on, I just wanted to start my blog back up again this weekend in order to finish my Colorado series and to take my mind off of everything that’s going on.

Since it’s been almost a year since this trip, my memory is a bit fuzzy on all of the details. However, I had a lot of this pre-written, so I’m going to do the best I can to render specifics.

I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy, and if you guys need a break from the pandemic news (like I do) and want a reminder of happier times – enjoy!

Day 10: July 21st 2019, Sunday

This was another day of hiking, so this post will mostly contain pictures. We went to Chautauga Park.

This was a much sunnier and better hiking day for everyone than the previous day. We were all able to hike a lot more than we did the day prior, and we got to explore Boulder, where this was located.

I drove this time, since Kelsie drove the previous day. We were able to find and pay for parking, and then we walked over to the visitors center before hiking up the large dirt trail. It took forever just to get up there, and we were all pretty exhausted from the previous hiking day. We also heard some rattle snakes off the trail along the way.

We got a lot of great pictures while hiking:

The park was packed this afternoon, and plenty of people were hiking with their dogs and their families since it was a beautiful day out and not too hot.

That one picture included the lunch we got at a Mexican-Indian place (a first for all of us). It was actually pretty good, although, I don’t remember the name of it, unfortunately.

We also went to a poetry bookstore after we were finished hiking and we ate lunch. It closed pretty soon after we got there around 4, but we were able to look through some neat published poetry books.

We then hopped back into my rental car and drove all the way up the mountain, stopping along the way to hike some smaller trails. I was able to collect a lot of rocks along the way.

This was pretty much it for this day, mostly just hiking and picture-taking. I hope you enjoyed a brief break from the horrors of the world right now.

Take care,

Rissy ❤
